Things That Make You Go Poop!

Bathroom breaks have never been a challenge for me. I come from a long line of efficiency.

My littlest munchkinbutt, on the other hand, got another set of bowels. He locks up after catching a glance of a banana in the produce department. To make matters more challenging, enter cow's milk, Constipator Numero Uno, and life gets super fun.

Thanks to HIS need for a breakthrough, literally, I've been on the hunt for fiber. And much poopy progress we have had!

HERE ARE SOME OF HIS AND MY FAVS!!

  • BLACK OLIVES make things slippery slidey..think olive oil
  • WHEAT GERM found in my store above the oatmeal. We put it on yogurt. R & D love it and I do too.
  • PEACHES
  • PEARS
  • APRICOTS...satisfaction guaranteed!
  • PRUNES...he gobbles these up!
  • PEAS
  • WATER...HUGE HUGE HUGE
  • OATMEAL
  • BEANS...any kind! D eats black beans straight and really enjoys pintos
  • VEGETABLE SOUP
  • APPLES...D LOVES them baked with cinnamon
  • WHOLE WHEAT BREAD...i make toast and cut it into small pieces

If you've discovered more, leave them in the comments. We like some variety up in here!

Yuck! I can't read about poop this early! I hate to admit it, but the more kids you have, the more poop stories you have, as well as more solutions for poop-filled kids.

One thing I've tried is a warm bath for the child, also rubbing some lavender oil clockwise on the abdomen. The poop runs clockwise, just in case you wanted to know.

I'm gagging myself here, I need more coffee.

Have a poop-filled day!

Ok, this post cracks me up. Add whole grain waffles and flax seed to the list. Flax seed is great for omega 3's and fiber. You can put it in tons of stuff -- yogurt, smoothies, oatmeal, etc.

Also, we've been making smoothies for breakfast at our house the past two months where I sneak in spinach and carrots. I also put in fruit so that's what it tastes like. I started doing them mostly for me (how sad am I that I have to sneak in my own vegetables) but Ezra liked it too so he has about a cup of my smoothie every morning now too. It's a win-win for everyone. Here's the ingredient list: 1 cup frozen fruit, 1 banana, 8 oz. orange juice, 1 cup frozen spinach, 1 cup mini-carrots, 1 scoop of protein. (I don't actually put flax seed in since I get that later in my morning oatmeal snack but you could put flax seed in there.) The smoothis is HUGE -- it almost overflows from the blender, but it's great nutrients, tastes yummy, and does great for all kinds of things for your body including digestion. It's got at least two full servings of fruits and vegetables. :0)

We had this problem with James and it got so severe we had to take him the the ER on the advice of our pedi. Let's say it was the least favorite experience of J's life. We had to switch him to soy milk and that helped because they determined he has a milk sensitivity. Doc said we could switch back to regular milk when he is ready for potty-training which should be in the next few months. Not sure how one outgrows a milk sensitivity, so who knows. But as far as what we have tried that helps that hasn't been said is: straight fruit juice (no more than 6 oz a day) and grapes. Also, per the doctor if he is REALLY stopped up, add Karo syrup (seems wrong doesn't it?!?!) to his bottle/sippy of formula/milk. Nell: LOVE the recipe! Going to make that right now!!! I hope you see this, because I would love for you to tell me about the spinach. Do you drain it? Sorry so long!! Funny post!
