Roadkill Rescue

On Fridays my friend Kelly links to blog posts she noticed from the week. This week she posted about Infarrantly Creative. A site dedicated to making something out of nothing. And, if you've known me long at all, you know I looooooooooooove this kind of thing!

THANKFULLY, I popped over there for the first time tonight quick and noticed she's having a Roadkill Rescue Party!!! Basically, you post before and after pictures of stuff you paid NOTHING for and have redone. When I found it, I had 1 hour and 14 minutes to post something to try and win a snazzy air compressor. I have WANTED an air nailer for a long while now, and this may be my shining opportunity!!!

Back to the contest....So, I had to hunt down before pictures of "my item", put Dane to bed, and sneak into Elijah's room to take after pictures WITHOUT waking him up. Now I have 58 minutes to post. Here I go!!!!

My mom WITHOUT A DOUBT, is the mastermind behind my creativity. She oozes ideas and it's hard to grow up with those vibes and not catch some of it. This post though is dedicated to her. So, technically, I'm entering her (maybe she'll let me borrow her air compressor :). She doesn't know it. She JUST called to see if Dane called her (whoops, guess we shouldn't let him trounce around with the phone in hand) and I didn't even mention this. See how sneaky I am?!

When Roman was a belly baby, we didn't find out what he was. Worked out okay, because at that point, I wanted a neutral primary color nursery anyway. So, I picked out some fun farm animal print and some coordinates and mom made all his bed stuff.

We had an old dresser Ernie had inherited from his parents and it looked like this......

Then one magical Spring Break my parents came and mom did THIS!!! I wish this were a better picture. Remember, I was hunched in the dark begging my flash to work its magic. This is incredible!!! She took the coordinating material and mimicked them on each of the drawers. On the left side there's some weird stuff going on in the picture---it's reflection stuff from a mirror leaned up to the left.

This dresser now lives in Elijah's closet. Roman's 7 and his primary chest of drawers doesn't fit any of the boys' decor. BUT, for the time being, I have no desire to change this work of art.

Up close and personal...

Again, weird reflection down the left side of the drawers. Darn that mirror!!!

Whew. 33 minutes left to post!! It's probably too late for you to enter when you read this. BUT, looks like she hosts these contests semi-often, so be thinking....you could win next time!! And for now, check her out. Creative. Inspiring. And fun!

I'll have to check out the site, not that I have anything to enter myself, just to see what everyone else has done.

I LOVE the dresser!!!! Your mom did an awesome job with that!!!!!

I WANT that dresser!

I have a friend at our pool who is really good at this kind of thing. I need to pick her brain this summer.

I would love to do this kind of thing, but fear of totally screwing it up keeps me from it. I'll spend $100 on supplies only to further kill road-kill.
